TRENT WILLMONTrent Willmon is an American singer, songwriter, and CMA Award winning music producer. Born in
Amarillo and raised on a ranch in west Texas, Trent later moved to Nashville, TN and signed with
Sony Records, having hits such as “Beer Man” and “On Again Tonight”, as well as writing songs for
other artists like Brad Paisley and Montgomery Gentry. He also produces many artists including
Cody Johnson and Kevin Fowler.
Growing up in Dickens County, Texas, Trent was involved in 4-H and FFA, and went on to study
animal science at South Plains College. There he joined his first band and decided to pursue music
instead.
After years of playing in bands around Texas (including upright bass for bluegrass legend, Karl
Shiflett), he found himself in Nashville as a side musician playing bass and guitar for other artists. In
between sessions, he would also continue to work on local horse farms outside of town. Trent signed
his first publishing deal with Seagayle Music and soon after started a band called “Cow Camp”
whose members included hit-songwriter Clint Ingersoll on lead guitar and Granger Smith (Earl
Dibbles, Jr.) on steel. While playing the Nashville Broadway bar scene and a house band gig at Big
Jim Country in Lewisburg, Trent honed his chops as a front man, landing him a record deal with
Sony / Columbia. In 2005, Willmon released his debut self-titled album and broke into the industry
with featured videos on CMT and GAC. Over his solo career, he released four different albums that
are still available for listening today.
His cowboy persona evoked a call to take part in television as the host of GAC’s America’s Top
Cowboy and voiceover narration on the show Meet The McMillans. You may have even seen him as
a star role in the movie Palo Pinto Gold.
Trent Willmon has written many songs cut by top recording artists like Brad Paisley, Eric Church,
Cody Johnson, Little Big Town, Randy Houser, Blake Shelton, Wade Hayes, Kevin Fowler, Maddie &
Tae, Roger Creager, Merle Haggard and more.
Several of his co-written songs have topped the Billboard charts, and he has written more than 25
songs that have reached the #1 spot on the Texas Regional Radio Report.
Trent continues to write and perform, but spends more time producing albums for Cody Johnson,
Hayden Haddock, Chancey Williams, and several other artists; he has made a name for himself as
an outstanding producer, recently winning “Single Of The Year” at the 2022 CMA Awards, for Cody
Johnson’s “Til You Can’t”, the most-streamed Country song in 2022. The song is also nominated for
a Grammy in 2023 for “Song Of The Year”.
After the work is done, you will find Trent giving back to charities, fishing, hunting, on the back of a
horse, barbecuing, looking for arrowheads, and spending time with family
