LA FIEBRE, established in 1986 as a rock band would quickly transform into one of Latin Music's most promising and influential Tejano bands in the Tejano music industry.
In 1988 the group recorded their first album, “Contagious”. Under their own label, L.F. Records, the group self-produced their debut album. This album gave them their first two charted songs, "Vestida De Color De Rosa" and "Por Tu Culpa".
Their album, “On The Rise” produced in 1989 gave the group their first smash hit, “Borracho De Besos”. The album became platinum and sold over 100,000 copies in the United States and was on the Billboard magazine chart for several weeks.
The group's early success came from a string of hit albums that pushed them to the top of sales charts and radio playlists across the country. After producing three albums with Cara Records; the band signed with Capitol Records.
Armed with one of the most explosive shows in Latin music, LA FIEBRE quickly became a major draw on the Tex-Mex circuit in the late 80's and early 90's. Their shows became spectacle and typically consisted of smoke, lights and pyrotechnics combined with a state-of-the-art sound system to produce a caliber show for Latin and Tex-Mex audiences.
Gold and platinum-selling albums such as “On The Rise,” “No Cure,” and “911,” firmly established the group as trendsetters in the Tejano music industry.
In February 1997, LA FIEBRE fulfilled their obligation and left Capitol Records and signed with Freddie Records.
Their first release with Freddie Records was the album, “Fenomenal”. Shortly after the release of their debut album, several band members made a decision to leave the group to fulfill other obligations and pursue different career paths.
Rocha, Reynosa and Espinoza elected to carry on with new members and continued to record.
In 1998, LA FIEBRE reached a milestone in their career when they received a Grammy nomination in the Best Tejano Album category for their second album with Freddie Records “Fiebre Live…En Concierto!” This album, which was primarily recorded at Freddie Fest in Corpus Christi and a performance in San Antonio, proved to be a commercial success, and also proved to everyone that LA FIEBRE was still very much a force in the industry.
In the fall of 1998, the group entered the studio to begin production on their next album. The release of “Evolucion,” in 1999 was followed by more touring and more personnel changes.
On July 22, 2003, the original members of LA FIEBRE reunited and headlined before a capacity crowd at Houston's Party on the Plaza concert series. The group was welcomed with open arms by fans that had waited for years to see the band together once again.
Shortly thereafter, the band returned to the studio to record the album, “Reunidos”. The next 10 years, the band continued to tour across the United States.
In early 2013, Pete Espinoza departed from the group and was replaced by J Angel Cantu.
On December 2, 2014 La Fiebre's new cd NUEVA ERA was released.
