J. DAVID SLOAN
J. David Sloan could be designated “Arizona’s most durable country star.” He’s been playing in the valley for around 50 years but he’s been entertaining crowds for even longer.  In 1972, after years of touring with Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, J. David thought he was done with country music. So he came to Phoenix to work construction.  Waylon Jennings urged the owner of Mr. Lucky’s to hire J. David to play music. That’s when he gave in and agreed to work six nights a week at the club, where he became an Arizona fixture, singing and playing with The Rogues, Western Bred and eventually owning the establishment until he sold it in the summer of 2004.
