Since winning the title of CMT’s ‘Next Superstar’ last summer, fans across the country have anxiously been awaiting new music from Matt Mason. Well the wait is finally over, as the singer has released his new six-song EP titled ‘Chasing Stardust.’
Mason frequently spoke of and performed the title track on the CMT reality singing competition, which helped grow curiosity about what other new music he had on the burner. Other songs that round out the new EP include ‘Indiana Boy,’ ‘No Romeo,’ ‘E,’ ‘I Wish I Had All the Whiskey Back’ and ‘Feather in Her Halo,’ all of which were co-written by Mason.
“I just got tired of making the fans wait on the label to put something out, so I decided to go ahead and put something out on my own,” the singer tells Taste of Country. “I’ve been in studio putting this side project together, and this is just the start of it. In about four or five months tops, we’ll have another six track EP out that will finish out an album. ”
‘Chasing Stardust’ made a very impressive debut on the iTunes country albums chart the day of its release, coming in at No. 20, just below Miranda Lambert‘s ‘Four the Record’ and the Band Perry‘s self-titled debut album.
